You Have Potential

Matthew 25:14-31 – The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man travelling to a far country.. To one man he gave five (5) talents, to another two (2) and another one (1), according to each person’s ability. Person who got five talents, traded and made another five talents. He who got two talents made another two. He who had one talent, buried it for safety.

Well done my good and faithful servant, you were faithful with a few things and made more. With one talent – you lazy and wicked servant, you buried your talent. You should have taken the talent to the bankers and the boss would have got interest. So we will take the talent from you and give it to someone else. Bible compares the kingdom of God to the man who had five talents.

2 Corinthians 5:5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come“.

God has given us the spirit as a deposit, to guarantee what is to come. What you see right now is nothing compared to what God has in store for you. It’s a great tragedy to know that with over 7 billion people on planet earth, only a small percentage will experience their true potential. Many will die with their potential. Your potential was not given to you so that you can deposit it in the grave. Understand that there is a tremendous potential that you do possess. God has given the potential to you to maximise it.

What is potential? – it is dominant ability, untapped strength, unused success, hidden talent within you. Some think potential is to have 10 cars and 10 houses. God is interested in what you are putting into the Kingdom. What did you do to advance the Kingdom of God? what are you doing with your potential?

Matthew 13:38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one”.

  • The field is the world.
  • The good seeds are the sons of the Kingdom, but
  • The weeds are the sons of the wicked one.

1 Avocado seed is 1 seed but in reality it’s not the truth. The seed produces many Avocados. The potential to produce a forest. How much have you produced in this life that brings glory to the Kingdom of God? God creating everything with potential including you! He placed a seed in each and every one of us. It’s not about the individual. It’s about all of us. What you do in the kingdom must be multiplied.

Genesis 1:12 – And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the three that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind, And God saw that it is good”.

The challenge – When God created earth, he did not produce one population at once. He started with Adam and Eve and look what we have today… What are you doing with the seed? Don’t not settle for what you have right now regardless of disappointments& rejection. There is still more in you. Don’t let disappointment disrupt you from moving forward. You will always face challenges, disappointments & rejection but that does not define you & who God’s wants you to become.

2 Corinthians 4:18 – “While we do not look at the things we are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporary but the things not seen are eternal”.

Potential is always present waiting to be exposed and God is demanding that you use the potential. The enemy of potential is success. Don’t be satisfied with your last accomplishments, there are still many more you need to achieve. Why settle for success, we don’t look at success, we move from one level to another, from glory to glory. Are you ready to follow God? Don’t walk with the church, walk with God. This kingdom is not about success. We must make sure that the multitude must come to know Jesus.

Ephisians 3:19 “To know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God”. 

At the time of the crucifixion, Jesus compared himself to wheat which falls into the ground and dies. John 12: 23-24 – But Jesus answered them and said: “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Most assuredly I say to you “Unless the wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone, but if it dies it produces much grain..” Jesus produced much after He died and rose. So the kingdom of God operates on potential. The devil that wants to destroy your dream will fail. If the devil thinks that he can abort what God has given you, he will fail in the name of Jesus. Life of Paul – he felt like he was going to die, but understood that it was more beneficial for him to live. If he died then, we would not have the book of Colossians and Ephesians. You will not die until you have fulfilled God’s plan for your life. 2 Timothy 4:5-7 – “But you be watchful in all things, endure affliction, do the work of evangelist. For I am being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.” I FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT – I FINISHED THE RACE – I KEPT THE FAITH. Can we speak like that about you? You emptied yourself. But for the kingdom of God, what did you do? We have people in careers here but they are still committed to the house of God. Question: What is your package? Do we come to church to be entertained or do we come here to be transformed?
